After having amassed over twenty-five years of postdoctoral research experience in the Departments of Clinical Biochemistry and Paediatrics at the University of Cambridge, I am now the Institute Research Manager within the IMS-MRL.
Working at the IMS-MRL
My role involves grant management at all stages: assisting Principal Investigators, Project Managers and Early Career Researchers with grant and fellowship applications, liaising with the Research Operations Office over these and contracts, and contributing to managing grants once they are awarded, including helping to draft grant-related reports where necessary. I also manage the IMS-MRL Core Facilities and assist research projects with statistical analyses where useful. In addition, I champion Open Science (and compliance) within the department.
The best thing about my job at the IMS-MRL is being able to use the transferable skills built up during my research career to beneficial effect within the realm of research management.
