Institute of Metabolic Science

Metabolic Research Laboratories

The Tissue and Cell Imaging Core (TCI) provides access to high resolution and high content light microscopy, including live cell fluorescence imaging, and immunofluorescence-labelled or immunohistochemically-stained tissue on slides. Multiple software packages are also available for downstream analysis of acquired images.

The Core offers training, access and support in advanced light microscopy and downstream image analysis, including laser scanning confocal microscopy, high-throughput/high-content imaging of tissue slices and live cell cultures, and AI-driven image analysis software. We work closely with investigators and our other core facilities to develop and provide a streamlined workflow for users.

Services provided

  • Introductory training on all microscopes and analysis workstations
  • Workshops for analysis packages available within the Core
  • Support in planning of experiments to ensure optimal results
  • Maintained stock of imaging plates for purchase for high content imaging
  • Provide contact with neighbouring imaging facilities, in the situation the Core does not have the equipment available to answer a given research question
  • Regularly work with users and investigators to develop the equipment and abilities of the Core

For access or further support on any of the Core’s equipment, the TCI Core Manager will be very happy to discuss.
